"Peanut" :: book review

My 3 year old daughter has recently fallen in love with the silly short story "Peanut" by Linas Alsenas. It's a sweet tale involving a little old lady, Mildred, who has not-so-great vision & mistakes a lost elephant for a stray dog! She takes him in, cares for him as she would a puppy, and falls in love with her new friend, who she names Peanut (after his favorite meal!). Of course poor little old Mildred's heart is absolutely broken when Peanut's owner recognizes him & he has to go back to the circus. Fortunately, she soon crosses paths with a stray cat, who oddly resembles a camel...

My daughter thinks this book is so hilarious, and cannot get enough of it! The sense of humor behind it is definitely right up her toddler alley, and it's such a sweet story that I can't help but to love it as well!

The recommended age level on Amazon suggest 4-8 years, but as a mom & teacher, I would say this book is perfect for kids age 2-6 years. It's an easy read, and features a simple plot that younger kids find quite amusing.
