Thomas Wooden Railway :: Farewell at the Docks Set

If you've got a train lover on your holiday shopping list, you'll be happy to know I've found the perfect gift! The Thomas Wooden Railway Talking Railway Series Farewell at the Docks Set has been a BIG hit in our home with both my son (age 4) & daughter (age 3)... and with mom & dad too!

"It's a special day at the Docks: Thomas, Spencer and Cranky are there to say goodbye to their special friend, Hiro, who was restored to his former glory and is now on his way home. Hiro was discovered when Thomas and Spencer were racing on the hills of Sodor.

The Talking Railway Series "Farewell at the Docks" Set features Engine Recognition Technology: when engines chug past Cranky, Sir Topham Hatt will recognize the engine by name. And, with the Talking Railway series, little engineers will discover a whole new interactive adventure! The more talking Railway Series engines and destinations you add the more interactive your world becomes!"

When it comes to purchasing toys for my kids I've learned (after almost five years) that quality is much more important that quantity or price. Price IS very important, don't get me wrong on that one! However, even on a budget, I know that it's much smarter to buy a toy that is going to last than a toy that won't last, but costs less. This toy will last. And in comparison to other brand wooden trains, this set is much better made!

I stood on a toy isle at Target for nearly 20 minutes looking back and forth between the off-brand train set and the Thomas Wooden Railway set. On a tight budget that cheaper brand can look appealing, but in my opinion, having the opportunity to compare both brands, Thomas wins, no contest!

The tracks from the Thomas Wooden Railway set are made of quality, smooth, and detailed wood. They easily connect and stay connected, even as a rough toddler drags a long chain of trains across it. The trains are also very detailed, and made of the best materials. Plus they are identical to the actual train characters featured on the Thomas the Train movies! (Trust me, kids will pick up on this, faster than you may think! The off-brand trains just won't do.)

So, if you're having trouble trying to decide what to add to your holiday shopping list, you should definitely check out this train set. You cannot go wrong with Thomas!

Find this set exclusively at Toys R Us stores & online.

I'm going to have to check this out. I'm train shopping myself this Christmas. I wanted to mention that I learned over the years that sometimes the "off" brand is a major brand in different packaging.

As an example, the Circo train set at Target is actually the trusted KidKraft brand. But, I agree when in doubt go with the one right for you and your kids even if it is a bit pricier.
